Two more arrests after break-in at RAF base

Two additional individuals have been arrested on suspicion of a terror offence following a break-in at RAF Brize Norton, where military planes were vandalized. The incident, which occurred at the Oxfordshire airbase, involved footage released by the activist group Palestine Action, showing one individual riding a scooter and spraying paint into the engine of an Airbus Voyager. In total, six arrests have been made in connection with this case, as South East counter-terrorism police confirmed that two men aged 22 and 24, both from London, were detained on Saturday. They are being investigated under the Terrorism Act 2000 for their alleged involvement in the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism. The government has announced plans to proscribe Palestine Action, which would make it illegal to support or be associated with the group, in response to the incident.

The earlier arrests included a 29-year-old woman without a fixed address, along with two men aged 36 and 24, also from London. Additionally, a 41-year-old woman, also without a fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. This series of events comes just days before a proscription order by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper under anti-terror legislation is expected to take effect. Palestine Action has claimed responsibility for the break-in, stating that their actions were aimed at intervening in what they describe as genocide and preventing crimes against the Palestinian people by targeting military assets.
