Antoine Massey, one of 10 escapees from a May 16 New Orleans jailbreak, has been captured,the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Officesaid Friday.
The last remaining escapee,Derrick Groves, is still on the run after he and nine other inmates broke out of the Orleans Justice Center in New Orleans over a month ago.
Massey was most recently charged with vehicle theft and domestic abuse involving strangulation, according toOrleans Parish records.
He was captured in the Hollygrove area of New Orleans, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office.
The 33-year-old has a long track record of escaping custody. In 2007, he broke out of a New Orleans juvenile detention center after being arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and aggravated assault, according toNOLA.com.
Early in June, authorities raided a home aftera video showed a man claiming to be Masseysaying he was innocent.
The May jailbreak has prompted an ongoing manhunt and drawn scrutiny to security practices at the Orleans Justice Center. The inmates hadcarved a hole in the cell wallbehind a toilet and fled overnight, when a staff member watching surveillance cameras had stepped away.
