Joey Chestnut, the celebrated competitive eater, is making a triumphant return to the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest after being barred from the event last year. Chestnut expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating on social media that it holds significant meaning for him as a cherished tradition and a vital part of his life. The Major League Eating organization had previously prohibited him from participating in the 2024 contest due to his association with Impossible Foods, a plant-based food company. This unexpected decision left both Chestnut and his fans disappointed, as he has long been synonymous with the contest held annually at Coney Island, where he has claimed the title 16 times and set a world record by consuming 76 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes in 2021.

In a recent post, Chestnut reaffirmed his loyalty to Nathan’s Famous, clarifying that despite his partnerships with various brands, including those in the plant-based sector, his commitment to Nathan’s remains unwavering. He emphasized that Nathan’s is the only hot dog brand he has ever collaborated with. With his return, Chestnut aims to reclaim his title and celebrate the Fourth of July with fans and fellow competitors. He expressed excitement about being back on stage, stating, "I’m excited to be back on the Coney Island stage, doing what I live to do, and celebrating the Fourth of July with hot dogs in my hands!" His return to the contest is highly anticipated as he remains the top-ranked competitive eater in the world, according to Major League Eating, and fans look forward to witnessing his performance once again on this iconic holiday.
