TruthLens AI Summary

Four teenagers have been charged in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Sydney, following a six-hour ordeal that occurred in December 2024. The group included a 14-year-old boy as the youngest member, while two older suspects, aged 18 and 19, were arrested by police. They face a staggering total of 14 counts of aggravated sexual assault and are scheduled to appear in court soon. The incident reportedly began when the girl was approached by a stranger at a shopping center in Liverpool. After initially resisting, she allowed the man to enter her vehicle, leading to a series of assaults that escalated when two other men joined them in the car. The situation continued to deteriorate as a fourth man arrived, and the girl was driven around while being assaulted until she was finally released later that night.

After managing to contact a friend post-incident, the girl reported the assault to the police, prompting an investigation by the state crime command's sex crimes squad. This led to the formation of Strike Force Dungannon, which focused on gathering evidence and apprehending the suspects. In the months following the incident, police arrested a 16-year-old boy, who was charged with multiple offenses, including sexual intercourse without consent. Another arrest was made of a 14-year-old boy, who faced several charges, including aggravated sex assault. Both minors were denied bail and appeared in court, while further investigations resulted in additional arrests of the other teenagers involved. The case underscores ongoing concerns regarding youth violence and sexual assault in the community, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and support for victims.

Police will allege that the 17-year-old girl was initially approached by a man unknown to her at a shopping centre in Liverpool about 5.30pm. He followed her to her car and she reluctantly let him inside before he began sexually assaulting her, detectives said on Wednesday.

A short time later, the man asked to be driven to a park at a nearby suburb to which the girl agreed to, on the understanding he would get out of the car when they arrived. At the park, two other men got into the car and it is alleged they also sexually assaulted the girl.

A fourth man then arrived in another car and police allege the sexual assault continued as the girl was driven around.

About 11.30pm, when the men left the girl in her car, she was able to contact a friend who took her to a police station.

The matter was referred to state crime command’s sex crimes squad, who established Strike Force Dungannon to investigate.

Detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy in Condell Park in December 2024, where he was charged with 24 offences including nine counts of sexual intercourse without consent.
