Berrada confident Manchester United can win men’s and women’s league titles by 2028

Omar Berrada, the chief executive of Manchester United, has expressed strong confidence that the club can secure both the men's and women's league titles by the time they celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2028. Despite the men’s team experiencing its worst performance in the top flight since the 1973-74 season and facing tough competition from Chelsea, who dominate the Women’s Super League, Berrada believes that achieving double title success is a realistic goal. He introduced his ambitious 'Project 150' vision last September, emphasizing the importance of setting clear targets within a defined timeframe. In a forthcoming interview with the United We Stand fanzine, he articulated the need for focused efforts towards this objective, stating, “Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course. We’ve just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?”

Berrada's optimism is grounded in the belief that the club has the potential and resources to rebuild and compete at the highest levels. After finishing third in the Women’s Super League, 16 points behind Chelsea, and suffering a loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup final, the men’s team also narrowly avoided relegation in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham. Despite these setbacks, Berrada remains steadfast in his commitment to the timeline he has laid out. He mentioned that the club has two to three summer transfer windows to strengthen the squad and aims to create a competitive team capable of challenging for the Premier League title. His vision reflects a long-term strategy that not only seeks immediate improvements but also aims to restore Manchester United's status as a dominant force in both men’s and women’s football.
