Barcelona are eyeing a loan move forMarcus Rashford, with the 27-year-old’s flexibility across the frontline viewed as an asset.
Barcelona’s No 1 target is Nico Williams but even if the Athletic Bilbao wide player is signed, Hansi Flick believes theManchester Unitedforward would enhance his options.
Rashford’s pace from the wing and ability to operate at No 9 would deepen the squad and give the head coach a capable deputy to Robert Lewandowski at centre-forward.
An interviewwith the Spanish YouTuber Javi Ruiz at the weekend revealed something of Rashford’s thoughts on his future.
Asked if he would like to be teammates with Lamine Yamal, he said: “Yes, for sure. Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully … we’ll see.” Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, told the Catalan radio station RAC1 in May that the club like Rashford.
Rashford added on the podcast: “It’s difficult to put into words what [Lamine Yamal] is doing because he’s not supposed to be doing that at 16 or 17. I don’t think we’ve seen that before. Spain is nice, and it’s not too far from home.”
Rashford, who spent the second half of this season on loan at Aston Villa, is one of United’s highest paid players, earning around £370,000 a week. While United would ideally want a loan fee they may be forced to accept a deal that involves Barça paying a proportion of his salary.
Jadon Sancho, another of United’s wingers, is being monitored by Fenerbahce. The 25-year-old has spent the last season and a half on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.
